Introducing Our Charity Partner: Breast Cancer Now

16/06/2025

We’re thrilled to announce that our new charity partner is Breast Cancer Now! Together, we’re beginning a journey to raise awareness and funds for everyone affected by breast cancer.

Why Breast Cancer Now?

When we asked our players which type of charity they thought tombola could support best, the answer was clear: a cancer charity. We know that 50% of our players have been affected by breast cancer, and that's why partnering with Breast Cancer Now felt like the perfect match.

We’re all about community here at tombola, and partnering with Breast Cancer Now gives us the chance to make a genuine impact on our players, our staff, and our wider community.

Who are Breast Cancer Now?

Breast Cancer Now exists to change the lives of people affected by breast cancer. They fund life-saving research, campaign for change and provide information and support to everyone affected by the disease.

Why? Because we know that breast cancer isn't yesterday's problem. Over 55,000 people are diagnosed every year in the UK alone. And 1,000 people still die from the disease every month.

Our vision is that by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live well. But to make this vision a reality, we need to work towards it every minute, every day. To make it a reality, we need to act now.

The Facts Speak for Themselves

Let’s talk numbers because they show just how much of a difference we can make:

98% of women survive 5+ years if breast cancer is found at stage 1, but only 27% survive that long if it’s caught at stage 4. (NHS Digital (2023).Cancer Survival in England, cancers diagnosed 2016 to 2020, followed up to 2021.)

1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime (2 Cancer Research UK (2018). Lifetime risk of cancer. Available at: cancerresearchuk.org/health-professional/cancer-statistics/risk/lifetime)

Every 9 minutes a woman hears the words “you have breast cancer” and one man every day is diagnosed too. (Source: NHS Digital (2024) Cancer registration statistics: NHS Digital (2024) Cancer registration statistics, England: 2022. Average figures for 2020-22. Public Health Scotland (2024). Cancer incidence in Scotland. Average figures for 2020- 22. Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit (2024). Breast cancer incidence. Average figures for 2019-21. Northern Ireland Cancer Registry (2024). Average figures for 2020-22)

These stats are a reminder of why early detection is so important. Together, we can help more people recognise the symptoms early, giving them a better chance at survival.

What’s Next?

We’ve pledged to do everything we can to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now. Including fundraising events, engaging campaigns, or just having open conversations, we’re all in.

So, join us on this exciting journey. Together, let’s raise funds, spread awareness, and give more people support.

Stay tuned for updates on how you can get involved!
